After installing it, run the program and do File | Open course&#8230; and then select \u201cpersian-typing.xml.\u201d This program assumes the Iranian Standard Keyboard layout, which for Windows users is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iam-afghanistan.org\/lcp\/downloads\/Iranian_Standard_Persian_Keyboard_%28ISIRI_9147%29_%28Version_2.0%29.zip\">an extra download<\/a>.\u00a0There is also a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iam-afghanistan.org\/lcp\/downloads\/persian-typing-large.xml\">version with a larger font size <\/a>if you prefer that.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Flash cards<\/h1>\n<p>There are plenty of freely available Anki flashcard decks <a href=\"https:\/\/ankiweb.net\/shared\/decks\/\">at this web site<\/a>\u00a0(Anki is described <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iam-afghanistan.org\/lcp\/flashcards-for-language-learning\/\">here<\/a>). \u00a0If you have Anki installed, you can just download the these files and double-click on them; the deck will appear in Anki automatically.\u00a0Do not be put off by the terns \u201cPersian\u201d and \u201cFarsi\u201d\u2014the differences\u00a0between Iranian Farsi and Afghan Dari <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iam-afghanistan.org\/lcp\/2015\/07\/04\/they-dont-use-that-word-here-a-personal-view\/\">are not great<\/a>, especially with more abstract vocabulary.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iam-afghanistan.org\/lcp\/downloads\/LCP Dari Phase 1.apkg\">Flashcards from the Dari Long Course, Phase 1 (1366 cards)<\/a> \u2014 These prompt both with the pronunciation (in IPA) and the English translation.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iam-afghanistan.org\/lcp\/downloads\/An%20Introduction%20to%20Persian%203rd%20ed.%20%28Thackston%29%20Review%20Deck.apkg\">Vocabulary\u00a0from \u201cAn Introduction to Persian, 3rd ed.\u201d by Wheeler M. (Revised December 10, 2016.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Proverbs<\/h1>\n<p>These are two flashcard decks for learning the proverbs in the book <em>One Hundred Afghan Persian Proverbs<\/em>. First you&#8217;re prompted with the proverb, and then need to supply the English translation (to learn to recognize them). Once you&#8217;ve learned those cards, you&#8217;re prompted with the English to produce the Dari (to learn to produce them).
