Government Inspection Team impressed

MoE Inspection Team impressed by IAM’s work.

On 23-24 June a three member inspection team of the Afghan Ministry of Economy (MoE) visited IAM. The team first wanted an overview of IAM’s history and of its current activities. They asked where our funding came from and whether any of our funding came from the money pledged by the international community to Afghanistan. They were pleased with the answer that our funding did not, and that all our funding was “extra”. They were also pleased that none of our expats get any salary from IAM.

The inspection team asked for copies of various documents, protocols, funding agreements etc. and we were able to give them within 24 hours. On Wednesday late morning and afternoon the team visited the Physical Therapy Institute and the NOOR eye care work. On Thursday they visited our renewable energy project workshop in Kabul and a micro hydro project in Farza district. There they inspected the unit and spoke with the elders.

At the end of the visit the members of the inspection team expressed their appreciation for the work of IAM. The inspection team leader explained that the MoE has 5 teams doing these inspection visits. Three are focused on international NGOs of which there are now 350. IAM was the second international NGO they inspected.
