IAM's community development work in the Hazarajat has experienced significant evolution in the past year.

In fall 2008 Community Development Project Lal (CDP Lal) emerged from the Hazarajat Community Health Project (HCHP) upon the recommendation from a formal evaluation. CDP Lal began to establish an office base in late 2008, along with evaluating unfinished villages (from HCHP) and surveying new locations. Before the heavy snow fell the new project had visited and implemented closure strategies for all of the unfinished villages, as well as surveying five new locations and starting a women’s literacy course.
