Physiotherapy

The Physical Therapy Institute in Kabul is the leading trainer of physical therapists in Afghanistan. It is a branch of the government Institute of Health Sciences, providing a 2-year course of training in physical therapy for 12th grade graduates. It seeks to recruit students from all over Afghanistan in order to train professionals who can return to their home provinces and provide physical therapy services to the many people disabled by war injuries, disease, trauma, and birth difficulties.

As well as its two-year courses, the Institute trains people who have previously studied short physical therapy assistant courses, upgrading them to the level of professional therapists.

In addition to physical therapy training, the Institute also provides a special training course for physical therapy teachers, which includes training in a variety of teaching methods, special techniques in clinical education, and basic research methodology. The staff is also active in preparing and printing resource textbooks for physical therapists in both Dari and Pashto languages.
