IAM has established optical facilities in each of the regional centers in order to ensure that affordable eyeglasses are available to those that need them. These facilities provide refraction, measuring and fitting of frames, the edging of lenses, and simple repairs. A stock of assorted frames and lenses are kept on hand at each site for most prescriptions. If the prescription is complicated or not a common one, then an order is placed to our main facility in Kabul, which produces both glass and plastic lenses to order. We manufacture and distribute over 25,000 glasses every year.
