Community Eye Hospitals are designed to make eye care more accessible to under served areas. These small units are designed with outpatient and inpatient facilities (5-7 beds), and the eye doctors staffing them can perform most of the common eye surgeries necessary for the majority of the general population. These community eye hospitals become independent and self-sustaining within 3 years, allowing us to start hospitals in other areas. IAM supported hospitals have been started in Ghazni, Khost and Qala-i-Nao.
